About Us

Winterville Christian Church is a place where you can be your authentic self. We are a loving community that is committed to welcoming and affirming all people. Central to our beliefs is that the Gospel is good news for all of creation.  It was Rob Bell who said, “If the Gospel isn’t good news for everybody, then it isn’t good news for anybody,” and we believe this to be true.

For more than 20 years WCC has welcomed our LGBTQIA+ siblings into full fellowship.  All members are welcome to serve the church in whatever way they feel led.  There is nothing that can separate you from the love of God and there should be nothing that can keep you from serving God and your church.

Many of our LGBTQIA+ siblings have been hurt by bad theology and restrictive policies.  WCC is a place where we recognize this and we continually strive to be a place where healing can begin.  Whoever you are, whatever you’ve done and wherever you’ve been, you are welcomed and loved at WCC.

The table is the focal point of our worship service.  Communion is offered each Sunday and everyone is welcome to participate. Services begin at 10:30 AM, join us at 10:00 AM for coffee and fellowship.

Statement of Belonging

We are an inclusive people openly welcoming persons of all sexual orientation, gender, gender identity/expression, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status or any other designation of individuals who have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination by the church and society. We declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming congregation, professing that all people are God’s children and deserve full inclusion in the life, leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments of communion and baptism, as well as the church rites of marriage, death, and ordination, and the responsibilities, and blessings of participation in our congregation. With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we invite anyone who seeks God’s amazing grace to join our church family. As Disciples, we find identity at the Lord’s table, practicing open communion for all and embracing our mission of building bridges of grace from the welcome table to every table.
